Jeffrey S. McCullough, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Management and Policy at the University of Michigan. He obtained a bachelor's degree from Harvard University and a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania. His research centers on technology and innovation in healthcare, with a particular emphasis on information technology (IT), pharmaceuticals, and empirical methods. Dr. McCullough's recent pharmaceutical research explores antitrust policy and the impact of direct-to-consumer advertising on health outcomes. He has conducted extensive studies on the effects of electronic health record (EHR) systems on healthcare quality and productivity. His IT-related work also investigates how technology contributes to the measurement and dissemination of provider quality information. In addition, Dr. McCullough's research applying machine learning techniques to medical decision-making, risk adjustment, and provider incentives. Finally, he is examining the underlying causes of racial and gender disparities in healthcare. His research has been published in a series of top international journals, such as RAND Journal of Economics, Management Science, MIS Quarterly, Journal of Health Economics, etc.
